Promoting good practice

Promoting good practice

We have signed a number of agreements – called Concordats – to promote good research practice and we are working with other bodies across the UK to ensure that they are implemented.

UK-wide initiatives

Supporting the Career Development of Researchers 2019

The Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers is a statement of the expectations and responsibilities of researchers, their managers, employers and funders in relation to career development, which aims to increase the attractiveness and sustainability of research careers in the UK.

The Concordat lays out obligations for funders (such as HEFCW), institutions (including universities), researchers, and managers of researchers in working together to realise its aims. Our Action Plan for the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers is arranged against the Concordat’s obligations for funders.

Supporting Research Integrity

The Concordat to Support Research Integrity is a clear statement about the responsibilities of researchers, employers and funders of research in maintaining high standards of integrity in the conduct of research.

Engaging the Public with Research

The Concordat for Engaging the Public with Research is a set of principles drawn up by organisations that fund research in the UK to encourage public engagement to boost the social and economic impact of research.

Promoting Open Research Data

The Concordat on Open Research Data is a set of expectations on best practice to help ensure that research data is made openly available for use by others wherever possible.

Promoting good practice in knowledge exchange

The Knowledge Exchange Concordat is a set of principles to encourage best practice in innovation and to support institutions to develop new and approved approaches.
