Providing student information
This page gives guidance on what is required of higher education providers in order for the National Student Survey to be carried out.
The National Student Survey forms part of the revised quality assurance framework for higher education. The aim of the survey is to gather feedback on the quality of students' courses in order to contribute to public accountability as well as to help inform the choices of future applicants to higher education.
The first National Student Survey took place in 2005 and is conducted annually, currently by Ipsos MORI.
Further information about the National Student Survey can be found on the HEFCE website.
The results of the National Student Survey are published on the Unistats website.
HEFCW has published general guidance on what is required of universities and of further education institutions in Wales with courses we fund directly.
For information about the inappropriate influence on survey results you may refer to a guide for students.
The list of students eligible to be surveyed (known as the target list) can be accessed via the HESA data collection system.
Guidance on what is required from further education institutions to obtain a target list has been provided by HEFCW. Further education institutions will need to work with HEFCW to obtain this list.
A secure area of the website has been provided where spreadsheets can be downloaded and uploaded.
