  • This circular requests further education institutions to return data to enable HEFCW to calculate any adjustments to 2013/14 funding and establish final numbers of students and credit values at further education institutions for 2013/14. It also gives definitions and guidance to higher education institutions about the end of year data that we will extract from the 2013/14 HESA student record to calculate any adjustments to 2013/14 funding, monitor information on initial teacher training courses and establish final numbers of students and credit values at higher education institutions for 2013/14.

  • This circular alerts universities to an opportunity to submit bids to a fourth round of the UK Research Partnership Investment Fund (UKRPIF). The Fund supports capital investment in major new research facilities in universities which have a significant track record of research excellence.

  • HEFCW’s Strategic Approach to Widening Access to Higher Education (our Approach) sets out our commitment to delivering the Welsh Government’s widening access expectations set out in the Policy Statement on Higher Education (June 2013) and other related strategies. In developing our Approach we have revised and built on the first Widening Access Strategic Approach (2010/11 to 2012/13) and taken account of our Corporate Strategy 2013-14 to 2015-16.

  • This circular provides our Strategic Approach to the Student Experience 2013/14 to 2015/16. It sits beneath our Corporate Strategy and alongside our Widening Access Strategic Approach, and provides a fuller picture of our strategic intentions in the period 2013/14 to 2015/16, incorporating progress to date. It builds on our strategic approach to the student experience 2010-11 to 2012-13, the outcomes of which have been published and takes account of our Strategic Equality Plan.

  • This circular provides revised guidance on the funding of effective, democratic student unions (SUs), and student representation, and replaces and replaces circular W12/09HE. It includes principles which should underpin the funding of SUs, principles which should underpin the relationship agreement between the SU and the institution; and a common set of core functions which all SUs should provide. Revisions were made in response to the work described in circular W14/04HE, and information on the changes is available in that circular.

  • This circular provides revised guidance on developing Student Charters, and replaces circular W11/31HE. It applies to Higher Education Institutions and to Further Education Institutions with directly funded higher education provision. Revisions were made in response to the work described in circular W14/04HE, and information on the changes is available in that circular. You will need to take account of this guidance in your next annual review of the charter.
