Enhancing learning and teaching through technology
We support the development of the higher education sector’s information and communications technology through a number of initiatives.
In particular, we:- fund the Joint Information Systems Committee, which supports UK post-16 and higher education and research
- have invested in a Welsh Video Network for the sector - one of the largest Internet-based videoconferencing networks in Europe
- fund the Public Sector Broadband Aggregation (PSBA) programme to deliver improved services for the people of Wales through facilitating greater efficiency and collaboration across the public sector
In 2008 we published a ten year technology-enhanced learning strategy which we supported with £1 million to run the Gwella project and Building Capacity programme.
In publishing the technology enhanced learning strategy we recognised that it would need to be reviewed at regular intervals. An implementation review of strategy was completed in June 2011. This informed our publication of a refreshed strategy for enhancing learning and teaching through technology in higher education in Wales.

We also support enhancing learning and teaching through technology through our Learning and Teaching Strategy guidance. The guidance for institutional learning and teaching strategies from 2011/12 to 2013/14 is available in W10/41HE and W11/17HE.
JISC RSC has developed an online toolkit Supporting ELTT in HE in Wales, to support evidence-gathering for the 2011 refreshed HEFCW ELTT strategy.
