GO Wales: Achieve through Work Experience
HEFCW is the lead beneficiary for two European Social Fund operations, known as Achieve through Work Experience, funded under the Youth Attainment Priority of the 2014 to 2020 round of structural funding, specifically Priority Axis 3 Specific Objective 2 (To reduce the number of those at risk of NEET, 11 to 24 year olds). They are designed to support the employability of young students on higher education courses in Wales and are aimed at those who face barriers in accessing work experience and are most at risk of not securing employment, education or training when leaving their higher education course. The operations are currently funded from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2019.
The operations are a partnership of the HEFCW and the nine universities in Wales. The operations provide tailored work experience opportunities for full time students under the age of 25 years, and associated support to help them get the best out of their experience and plan their next steps.
We help those students who, because of their circumstances or needs, find it difficult to access work experience and who need more support than they can get from embedded employability provision and other initiatives available to all students.
