Professor Mari Lloyd-Williams
Appointment: 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2009; 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2012
Professor Lloyd-Williams has held a personal chair at the University of Liverpool Faculty of Medicine since 2003, where she is also a consultant in palliative medicine and Director of one of the largest community medical education curricula in the UK. She was lately Hon Senior Lecturer and Medical Lead of the LOROS Hospice, Leicester. She has an international profile for her research on psychosocial aspects of cancer for patients and families, and also palliative care for non cancer patients, and is principal investigator for several major grants. She has wide experience of chairing and sitting on regional and national committees including currently the professional conduct committee of the General Medical Council and Department of Health committee on psychosocial care. A fluent Welsh speaker, she is actively involved in her local community as a trustee of St Kentigern Hospice and the congregational chapel, and as a magistrate.
