Dame Sandra (Alexandra) Burslem

Dame Sandra Burslem was Vice-Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University from 1997-2005. She was then appointed a Civil Service Commissioner from 2005-2010. She had membership of OFQUAL Northern Ireland Committee and Audit and Risk Committee and was also Deputy Chair of OFQUAL’s Council 2010-2013. Dame Sandra is Chair of the School Governors at Chetham's School of Music, and a board member and Chair of Audit at the Royal Northern College of Music. Dame Sandra was a member of the Bench of Manchester City Magistrates from 1981-2010. She was awarded an OBE for services to higher education in 1992, and became a Dame Commander of the British Empire in the New Year Honours in 2004. She was also High Sheriff for the County of Greater Manchester in 2006-2007.
