Data protection

The Data Protection Act 1998 regulates how HEFCW can obtain, hold, use and disclose information relating to individuals.

This document provides an overview of the Data Protection Act.  HEFCW staff use it to help them decide whether data for which they are responsible are subject to regulation under the Act.  It also sets out the rules governing the storage, use and disclosure of such data.
