Partner bodies

HEFCW and the higher education institutions in Wales work together and with a range of partner bodies to achieve both our own aims and the priorities of the Welsh Government.

We are already working, or are planning to work, collaboratively with a number of partners in Wales on areas identified in our Corporate Plan or in certain Welsh Government strategies.

They include UK bodies that are part-funded by HEFCW, such as:
  • the Equality Challenge Unit (ECU)
  • the Higher Education Academy
  • the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA)
They also include bodies which might regulate, impact upon or represent higher education in
Wales and the UK:
  • Estyn - Her Majesty's Inspectorate for Education and Training in Wales
  • Higher Education Wales (HEW)
  • National Union of Students (NUS) Wales
We also work with bodies whose main focus is not higher education, but which deal with
issues that impact upon us or the higher education sector:
  • All Wales Ethnic Minority Association (AWEMA)
  • Value Wales
  • Welsh Language Board
